MASAMI DESIGN New Year's postcards (1999-)

Client: MASAMI DESIGN Co., Ltd.

For the 2002 New Year's postcard in the shape of the number "2," Takahashi had to add an announcement about MASAMI DESIGN becoming incorporated to the usual season's greetings. Because the information doubled, the size of the card also doubled.

This time Takahashi designed the paper as well and many people thought it was made of plastic, as they have never seen any material like it. The processing method for the paper is now widely used, but it was extremely unusual then for a graphic designer to be involved in the designing of the material itself to achieve a desirable outcome, and it resulted in a material that delivered a fresh look and impression.

Another aspect that surprised many people was that such a large and irregularly-shaped postcard without an envelope safely made the journey to their mailboxes.
