Screw Punch (2005)

Client: Nonaka Mfg. Co., Ltd.

A screw punch is the predecessor of a hole punch using a screw, invented by Nonaka Manufacturing Company, based in Sumida City, Tokyo. It was registered in the Utility Model Register in 1977.

In this package renewal project, Takahashi thought up a design that was friendly, inventing a product mascot, the Screwman, a name she thought was suitable for the original version of the hole punch. She also used clear plastic packaging, printed with dark colors and texts, and using appropriate character-spacing, to make the text clearly legible. The package was designed in such a way that, after purchase, it could be used to store the product and/or as instructional material. It is a design which makes the product stand out regardless of the circumstances.
