Francfranc Starter Kit (2002)
Client: BALS Corporation
2003 NYADC (New York Art Directors Club), Distinctive Merit Award
Japan Package Design Awards, Silver Award
This is a set of packages made for the 10th anniversary of Francfranc, a home fashion brand.
Takahashi designed them to be utilized in different ways, beyond the mere use as packaging boxes. The goal was to make them a source of exciting inspiration when the user holds them or first encounters them when entering a room where these packages are displayed. She also designed them to be an accelerating agent for ideas to grow within the purchaser's unconsciousness, and move the person outwards.
They come in unusual shapes, such as pyramids, carrying boxes, tiles, etc. When arranged in a certain way, they comprise a space station.
