gradation (2003)

Client: Kaori Nasu

This book is Ms. Nasu's first collection of her artwork.

It was in an accordion-fold style, and when opened, all the paintings were laid out in such a way that one line in one painting was connected to another painting somehow, reflecting the artist's view of the world.

The colophon was positioned in an unexpected place. Each piece of artwork, thanks to high quality printing, was reproduced so meticulously that it showed the texture of the canvas, which helped the viewers feel the original paintings were right in front of them. (Printing was directed by pre-press director Yamamoto of TOPPAN PRINTING CO., LTD.)

The book was bound by ribbons in six variations, and readers could choose the one they like at the retail shop.
